It's OFFICIAL!!!!

On July 8th, Bryce will officially be working in Boulder! After several long years of looking for the right job, he's landed a great position with Emerson in their Rosemount division. Instead of commuting a minimum of 2 hours a day, he'll now be able to enjoy a casual 20 minute bike ride to and from work. As an added bonus, the company works half days on Friday...oh yea! I'm beyond excited for him and cannot wait for him to enjoy a huge lifestyle improvement :)

Summer in Vail

As the summer is now in full swing, our non-race weekends are getting more and more limited. Since my DH fork has yet to arrive and a relaxing/pampering weekend was calling our names, we opted to spend it in Vail with Bryce's family.

Saturday we met up with a good friend of Bryce's and did some dirt biking above his parent's house at Red and White Mountain and Muddy Pass. It was so beautiful and we couldn't have asked for better weather.

On Sunday, we ventured to the north side of Vail and rode the Lost Lake trail to Buffehr Creek to the North Trail.

It was a perfect 3.5hr ride with amazing views and super fun trail. We will definitely be doing that again :)

Lastly, I have to comment about how big Bruno has gotten. He is now 13 weeks and already weighs 42lbs. He is going to be one big doggie!

Timex Run Trainer 2.0 Demo #1

On Wednesday evening, we met up with the Pearl Street Runners for their weekly 5K run along the Boulder Creek Path.

We brought along our newest fleet of Run Trainer watches for the runners to demo and it was a complete hit!

Everyone was really excited to give it a shot and eager to see their data when they returned.

After Christine, Denny and myself got everyone set up and connected to their respective sensors, they were off.

As usual, we helped everyone see their run data and how to scroll through the different information. Many runners have never run with a GPS before so they were extremely impressed. The coolest part about this run group is that Conor O'Neills (a local bar), provides free beer and food to the runners every week! We had a great time and the group was a blast to work with.

My Favorite Moto Race of the Year!!!

Even though it took us 7 hours to arrive in Upton, WY on Saturday night after the race, it was well worth it. This race has been on the National Enduro calendar the past few years so the race director has everything dialed. The trail is super tight and windy and I swear almost everyone out there had a shit-eating grin the entire time :)

I did have some descent crashes (as always) but I knew I had a few good test sections too. However, I was super surprised to have placed top 3 in the 250C category. After winning the women's title the past few years, the boys insisted on me moving up. I haven't been riding much so I figured getting trophies was something of the past. Guess not! Bryce was in the top 10 overall which is always a good day for him. It was a long drive home but a successful and fun weekend of racing!

I'm back racing!!!

That's right...first official bicycle race since July 2012 was the CU Short Track this past Wednesday night. Even though it's only 25min long, I lined up, had a number plate on the bike, and got placed! I had already done a workout in the morning so I wasn't super fresh but put out a good effort and most importantly didn't feel like I was going to die!

The second race of the season was the Winter Park Hill Climb on Saturday morning. I placed 3rd in the Pro class and 5th overall but it definitely wasn't pretty. I dropped my chain at the start which was a big hassle and overall I just didn't feel great. My time was much slower than last year and my HR average was about 15 beats lower. Not really sure what that means but I'm just going to stick with my plan of racing for fun throughout this series. I'm going to do everything in my nature to not worry on how I place until CX season starts in September but rather focus on staying healthy and getting to the start line in September :)

Bryce also grabbed the 3rd spot on the podium in his class at the HC. He's been riding a lot more than average and improved his time from last year! After chatting with the usual crew, we jumped in the van and drove 7 hours to WY for our favorite dirt bike race of the year on Sunday. More on that shortly!

Getting Retul-ed...again

All cyclists know the importance of a perfect fit on their bicycles. Unfortunately, it's very rare that any two frames are exactly the same so I needed a little assistance getting my new Litespeed L1R road bike dialed in.

I went in during a 'Retul University' class so it was fun seeing new fitters being trained. As always, the data that was captured and the detail in which they set your position is so fascinating. Thanks to Ivan and Garrett for all the help! I'll be back shortly with my CX bikes for the big comeback this fall :)

The 650b Litespeed MTB has arrived!

I'm kinda biased but the new 650b Litespeed Citico is one sexy looking ride! Complete with XTR/PRO components and Stan's Medalist wheels, this bike is built with the best quality stuff money can buy :) Although I'm still waiting for my ''suspension'' fork to finalize the ultimate build, the rigid will work just fine for this weekend's Winter Park Hill Climb! Stay tuned for more photos and a full product review/write up within the next few months.

Brrrraaaap!

This is a cool pic from our moto race on June 2nd in Bennett, Colorado. I wasn't kidding when I said it was super sandy!

This past weekend was our first real trip to the Winter Park condo. We got everything situated for the summer and even got in a little MTB ride and moto ride. Bryce snapped this pic of me before I ran into the woods to pee on Sunday. Bet you didn't think that's what I work under my moto gear!!! Yes, I look ridiculous.

New THULE Bike Rack

And we thought we could fit EVERYTHING inside our monstrous van :) Well, we almost can...but then we lose seating for other people! Our new Thule T2 2 Bike 916XTR is the perfect rack to allow us to tote 4 bicycles, 2 dirt bikes and all of our gear around...AND still have the whole living/seating area clear.

Organization at its finest

Between Flora and I, we have quite the shoe collection. It has become apparent that our $15 plastic shoe rack can no longer keep things organized so we searched for an alternative solution. Even though there are only 24 shoe slots in the new rack, we promised to leave at least 2 for Bryce and Patrick :) Soooo much nicer than tripping over shoes every day!

Weekend Goodness

Friday started out on a great note as it was finally Flora's real last day of college. Ben brought over a gluten AND dairy free cake from Kim & Jake's Cakes which was unbelievably delicious!

Saturday was a bit of a low key day since Bryce was feeling a bit under the weather, I had a big week on the bike, and we had a moto race the next day. So a short bike ride and lots of baking made it in the agenda. We then had a great dinner to catch up with some of our favorite buddies - Courtney and Tito Shelden :)

Hmmm...racing. What's that? I honestly have done a single race since my DNF at the Aztec moto race last July. I can't believe it's been that long! Although I haven't been on the dirt bike much lately, it felt great to be out on the scene again. The course was pretty technical so my arms pumped up pretty bad and I had some extra spectacular crashes, however, I did finish. That put the biggest smile on my face and gave me an extra boost of confidence going into the summer!

Although Bryce should have crushed it at this race, he has been battling a nasty cold which left him super congested with low energy on race day. He finished 13th and still got some points which made the trip worthwhile. His favorite race is in 2 weeks so he's ready for some vengeance here shortly!
