A fall weeked in WP

This past weekend, Bryce and I headed up to Winter Park to check out the fall colors and show the condo to some potential renters. It was absolutely gorgeous up there and a perfect way to detox after a week in Vegas.

Saturday was more of a relaxing day. We both did some work and then went for a stroll downtown where we found our 2012 Christmas tree ornament. Since Sunday was the last day the Trestle Bike Park was open for the season, Bryce met a bunch of people up there for a fun day of DH riding. I'm thinking of trading my trail bike in for a DH bike for next year...thoughts?

Interbike 2012

This past week, I made my 2nd trip out to Las Vegas with Madd Gear for the annual Interbike convention. As usual, all the big boys were there and it was so great to catch up and finally meet a few others that I've only communicated via email with for 3 years! Overall the trip was okay. I'm still feeling pretty yucky and my diet is super strict so it was hard to find viable options for food. Although I tried going to Whole Foods once, that trip ended in a complete disaster...as I was on my way there in a cab, I realized I didn't have my wallet and the cab driver kicked me out about over 5 miles from the hotel. I was certain I had lost my wallet in Vegas and that I was going to get stuck there but alas, it was under a sweatshirt in my hotel room. That was day 1 of my trip so it didn't exactly start off on the right foot. Luckily, Bryce arrived later that evening so I was able to relax a little bit. Everything went great on the Madd side of things and it was also fun seeing the crew at Litespeed, Shimano, Pearl Izumi, etc. It was bittersweet being there and not racing Cross Vegas but I know that next year is going to be a hell of a year so I'm working hard on that thing called 'patience'!

Fun with the Family!

It's been since Christmas 2011 since I've seen my parents so they made the trip to the mountains this past weekend to catch up and do a little relaxing. Since my little brother is only a short flight away in Salt Lake City, he decided to join in on the family fun time as well.

Since my energy and lifestyle is much different that normal, we had to rearrange a few of the weekend's original activities. However, we did manage to fill up the weekend with lots of exciting and random activities. After watching my brother do some paragliding jumps at Wonderland Hills, we did a little bowling out in Louisville. While the boys went mountain biking on Saturday morning, I took my parents to the farmer's market downtown and we got some fresh veggies, fruit, meat and bread for dinner. Later that afternoon, we shot a round of golf at the Flatirons Golf Course. Once upon a time I used to be decent at that game...as of today, that is no longer the case! We came home and made some delicious shish-kabobs on the grill and a homemade peach crisp. Unfortunately I couldn't eat any of it, but it turned out great. Sunday was a bit slower moving. The boys went out mountain biking again and I lounged with my parents. We went down to Pearl Street for lunch at Reuben's then walked around for a bit before watching the first big cyclocross race of the year at Valmont. Although it was bittersweet, it was fun being out there and a great time cheering on my good friends and competitors. We hit the road for the airport right after the race. Overall, it was a perfect weekend of relaxing and good laughs!

Trying new things...

Things have been progressing, slowly but surely. Although I'm still waiting for that day I wake up and feel like a million bucks, I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My diet and supplement regimen is still very strict with the elimination of all sugars, caffeine, fruit, nuts, starches and more so I've been researching ways to keep it interesting. My doctor suggested making some Zucchini Chips since I was craving something filling like pretzels or crackers. I looked up some recipes but most of them called for a food dehydrator which I didn't have. I browsed the Target and Bed Bath & Beyond websites and discovered they weren't too expensive. I also found some other recipes requiring a dehydrator (see here) that sounded really good. Heck, it's only $75, why not. I'm in the process of making Zucchini and Squash Chips now and the few that I've tried are delicious. Can't wait until I can start adding fruit and nuts back in so I try a whole plethora of new snacks!

Courtney and Tito are officially the SHELDENS!

Sunday evening was Courtney and Tito's wedding at the Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge. It was so unbelievably gorgeous and they were too cute sobbing to each other at the alter. From the food to the decor, all of their hard work and planning totally paid off and their special day was a total success. As much as I would have loved to stay and party, I'm in the middle of a complete body cleanse and feel beyond under the weather. It was difficult getting up there but wouldn't have missed it for the world. So excited for them to begin this exciting new chapter in their lives :)
