The Disasters of Traveling

In my opinion, flying is by far the best option when it comes to traveling as I can’t sit still very long so driving just doesn’t cut it for me. However, flying isn’t always as simple as it seems. After a big storm hit Dallas Thursday, 80% of their flights for the day were cancelled, including mine to Richmond. Luckily Josiah and Rife were on my flight so we were able to get a hotel together for the night. American Airlines paid $200 toward the room and we fronted the other $100 to stay in the Gaylord Texan (a spectacular 2000 room palace) for the night.

We spent the better part of the evening trying to find a way to Richmond since we didn’t have a confirmed flight until Sunday because everything was overbooked and we were in the 30th+ position for standby. We got to the airport in hopes of getting on the first flight out to Richmond but no go. After numerous phone calls, Josiah finally got a flight to Washington Reagan and Rife and I miraculously got on a flight to Washington Dulles. Both airports are 3+hrs away from Richmond, but the chances of us getting on any of the direct flights were slim to none. Any opportunity to head East, we were taking :)

After sitting in traffic for 4hrs, we finally made it into Richmond. We had a bite to eat at Bottom's Up Pizza downtown and unfortunately watched the Red Wings lose the Stanley Cup Finals in game 7 :( Bummer.
